2013-08-26: I don't know if many had heard that the Milwaukee County Zoo announced on August 13th that Puddles, a 37-year-old female hippo, died Sunday after a brief illness. Puddles was born at the Milwaukee County Zoo in 1976, and her mother, Patti, 43, is still there. Zookeepers will be closely monitoring Patti to make sure she's adjusting to the loss, the release said. University of Wisconsin - Madison vet school will be performing the autopsy to determine what caused her death.
The zoo also is also home to a male hippo, Happy, who arrived in 2009 from the National Zoo in Washington, D.C..
I think this particular Hippo is Patty but I'm not 100% on this.
