Hare Creek trail
This is in Limekiln State Park in Big Sur, California. Quite a beautiful park with campsites, trails, redwoods and a 100 foot waterfall. It has it all! There are three trails to explore. One is the Hare creek trail where these images were taken. Then there is the Limekiln Falls trail which is a little more treacherous with logs and creek switchbacks you have to cross. Then there is the Limekiln trail itself which takes you back in time to the old lime kilns where workers purified lime dug from the surrounding mountains and sent it by ship to San Francisco to use in cement for the skyscrapers. The workers used ancient redwood trees to fire the kilns. I'm glad they didn't totally wipe out the forest!
