La Mirandola hamlet

One of countless ancient hamlets lost in the northern Appennines, Emilia Romagna, derelict hamlet La Mirandola stands on the Northern side of the Lamola Valley.

Since pre-Roman times, the valley had been inhabited thanks to its many creeks (supplying fresh water and hydraulic energy) and strategic position (leading to a mandatory pass across the Appennines between the Po valley and Tuscany) and it become a landmark for pilgrins on the route from Santiago to Rome. However, the XX° century marked the end of the many hamlets, scattered across the Valley.
