Ron Abram is an artist making prints, primarily etchings, for thirty years. As a gay man, his current work is recontextualizing his life’s work through a series of print projects that deal with not only the past, homophobia and queer aesthetics, but the intersection of personal symbolism and popular collective iconography and myth. His work has been exhibited here and abroad, and in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art , Mint Museum and Moravian College. Teaching at Denison University since 1995, Abram headed studio art as chair for five years and was project shepherd in the design/construction of the new Bryant Arts Center at Denison. He has been an artist in residence at Anchor Graphics in Chicago, Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, and Flying Horse Editons in Orlando. He will be doing a residency this fall in Berlin. He received his BFA from the University of Central Florida and his MFA from Tyler School of Art of Temple University.
