James Pomerantz
Jim Pomerantz, a cognitive psychologist specializing in human visual perception and attention, joined the Rice faculty in 1988 as the dean of social sciences and the Elma W. Schneider Professor of Psychology. He left Rice to become provost of Brown University in 1995 but returned in 2000 as a professor of psychology and the director of neurosciences. Pomerantz also directed Scientia, a faculty forum that fosters interdisciplinary dialogue, for the 2000–2003 term and is currently Scientia’s associate director.
