One of the most amazing natural phenomena has to be Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). And this has to be one of the most amazing captures of it. I've sat outdoors many nights in Northern Michigan...I've sat out on deck of an Alaska cruise ship...and, I've never been privileged to witness the Northern Lights.
Jan Nagalski says:
This beautiful capture of the bee and blossom illustrates the amazing symbiotic relationship between bees and certain flowering plants. The bee relies on the blossom for nectar, and in the process of getting the nectar will brush up against the flower's stamens which hold the flower's pollen. Sometimes, the pollen will be all over the bee. This picture shows the yellow swellings on the bee's hind legs which are actually a mass of pollen grains that it has wiped from it's body. The pollen is transferred to the next visited flower's stigma, thereby fertilizing the flower. So, amazingly, the bee becomes an important agent in the reproduction of the flower.
