Brant Coming At You
There were 20-30 Brant seen at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, but they wouldn't let me get close. Two of them flew directly at me, which also made for a difficult shot.
Brant are small, stocky sea geese, seen mostly in coastal waters. There are two subspecies. This one is the Atlantic Brant (Brant bernicla hrota), also called American Brant.
