Civil War 12 Pounder Napolean

The most common artillery piece by the end of the Civil War was this "12-Pounder Napolean" named after the French emperor Napolean III. It was made of bronze which turned green after it oxidized. The "12-Pounder" name refers to the twelve pound round that it could fire, with a range up to one mile.

Seen at Gettysburg National Military Park, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania USA.
