Viceroy
Viceroy butterflies resemble Monarchs, but are a bit smaller with a wingspread of about 3 inches (67-76mm). Monarchs are about 3.5 to 4 inches. Also, Viceroys have a black band in their hind wings that is lacking in Monarchs.
The yellow flowers are Canada Goldenrod, a native wildflower that blooms in late summer and into the fall.
Seen at Stony Creek Metropark, Michigan USA.
