Ambassador Bridge

The Ambassador Bridge has been a landmark in Detroit since opening in 1929. It's an attractive suspension bridge over the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan USA to Windsor, Ontario Canada. The total length is 7500 ft (2286 meters).

There has been quite a controversy lately about the construction of a second bridge. The owner of the Ambassador Bridge, Manuel "Matty" Maroun, quite understandably, wants to own the new bridge, and he (his company) wants to build it alongside the current bridge. Michigan's current Governor, Rick Snyder, and the Windsor officials want the bridge built further downriver to allieviate traffic in the cities and to provide a direct link from I-75 highway in Michigan to Ontario highway. Maroun has spent several millions of dollars in advertising/lobbying to support his position.

We'll see who wins, if anyone.
