Boxelder
Boxelder is a small to medium-sized tree that is somewhat common in the Southern part of Michigan. It's in the maple family of trees, but is unusual in that it has compound leaves (it's leaves are composed of 3-5 leaflets). Like other maples, it can be "tapped" in the spring to collect it's sap. But it's sap has less sugar than other maples, so it takes more of it to boil down into maple syrup.
The fresh flowers in the picture will become a bit more reddish at full maturity.
