Mount Desert Dawn
The main part of Acadia National Park is on Mount Desert Island. The locals pronounce it: deh-zert' (like what you eat after dinner, or like an army desert-er). I overheard two elderly women asking a guide where the desert was that they had read about in their "research" before the trip. It had just been 3 days of rain and fog, and I had to laugh to myself!! (p.s. There is NO desert in Maine!)
