Silver-spotted Skipper

This Silver-spotted Skipper butterfly (Epargyreus clarus), seen at Stony Creek Metropark, is named for the obvious silver-white spot on the outside hind wing. It's a small to medium-sized butterfly (about 2" wingspan). It's long proboscis is visible in this photo. This one is after nectar on Spotted Knapweed, a non-native wildflower.
