Blue Flag

Blue Flag is native perennial member of the iris family. Iris is one of my favorite flowers, and this wildflower is one of my favorites to see in the marsh.

 

Being beardless, Blue Flag has a simpler form than most garden irises, which are "bearded" (bristles in the center of the petals that lead bees to the nectar and pollen).
