Ponds to Peaks

This landscape was taken from Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat, near Boulder Colorado. It is a reclaimed gravel/sand pit resulting in a series of adjacent small lakes, with their banks forested and replanted with native species.

Here, we see the Front Range, foothills, and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.

Walden Ponds was named for Walden "Wally" Toevs, a Boulder County Commissioner from 1972 to 1980, who was instrumental behind the development of this area. But I don't think that Henry David Thoreau would mind the naming of this wonderful reclaimed natural area : )
