Act Like a Heron

Sometimes it pays to do ... nothing. I've seen Great Blue Herons stand in shallow water, and do nothing, that is, stand completely motionless for as long as it takes for something to happen. That may take five minutes or thirty minutes. All the while he is watching, waiting, and if he is lucky, a fish or a frog may swim by, and he is ready to strike that spear-like bill to snatch dinner.

That's how this picture was taken, like a heron would do it. I sat on the ground and waited for something to happen. Nothing happened, but I was tired from walking, so I sat. Eventually this heron landed right in front of me. I snapped this picture and he flew off. We both "acted like a heron".
