Lettuce "Lake"
Although it looks more like a lawn choked with weeds, it is actually a "lake" choked with water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes). (look at the foreground in large size for details)>
Water Lettuce is a floating tropical species that grows in Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, and other areas of south Florida. It's called "lettuce", but it is not an edible plant. It does, however, provide shelter for small fish, crayfish and other small aquatic species. I have also seen large eyes protruding from the mat of water lettuce--alligator eyes!
