Evening Primrose

Evening Primrose, a native wildflower of Michigan, were growing in the sand of a high beach area at Mackinaw City, Michigan. This area is not reached by waves, and is not normally used by beachgoers.

The blooms open in late afternoon to early evening, staying open until they wilt around noontime the next day. The stigma (center of the flower) is a unique X-shape,as shown in the picture.
