Fresh Winged Monarch (open wings)

Monarch Butterflies (Danaus plexippus) pupate in late August, and migrate South to Mexico in September. The small, black scent patch on the hind wings indicates a male Monarch.

 

The full wings of this butterfly, without breaks, tears or jagged edges suggest that he has not met a bird yet : )
