Fresh Winged Monarch (closed wings)

Monarch Butterflies (Danaus plexippus) pupate in late August, and migrate South to Mexico in September. A small, black scent patch on the hind wings would indicate a male Monarch

 

The full wings of this butterfly, without breaks, tears or jagged edges suggest that he has not met a bird yet : )
