When a Log is Not a Log!

Not every floating log in a swamp is a log...it might be an alligator's tail!

Alligators are fairly often seen around water in Southern Florida. This one was seen partially submerged at Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

The floating plants, often mistaken for Duckweed, are actually Water Fern (Salvinia minima).

For my Flickr buddy Ger Bosma who rightly doesn't like to get his feet wet in swamps. But caution Ger...the alligators also walk on sidewalks in Florida !
