Winter Patterns in Nature: Stripes

 

This is how a wetland is "supposed" to look in Michigan, with grasses and cattails. The previous picture (repeated below in the first comment, shows the effect of invasive Phragmites). These are the natural colors, as found at Stony Creek Metropark on the the "Landscape Nature Trail".

 

I really liked how the trampled reeds in the foreground shade contrasted with the cattails in the mid-ground sun, and the treeline in the background.
