Lappet-faced Vulture

This Lappet-faced Vulture, native to Africa, has a powerful beak, and folds of skin on each side of it's head ("Lappets"). Because of it's size, large beak and behavior, it is dominant when encountering other vulture species at a carrion dinner.

Seen at the Detroit Zoo.
