"...will he stay...or will he go...?"
One of the things I associate with Central Park is the horse carriage ride, a tradition dating back to 1858. There were still carriages there on my June 2014 visit, but they may not be there long.
Newly-elected Mayor DiBlasio made it an election promise to get rid of Central Park horses, supposedly as an animal-activist mercy. But the situation is very complicated. Carriage drivers insist that certain businessmen want to acquire the horse stables in order to build high rise apartments, and have invited self-proclaimed activists to inspect living conditions at the stables to verify drivers' claims of humane conditions.
Which side will prevail?
Update: As of November 24, 2020, horse-drawn carriage rides in Central Park are still offered in internet ads.
