She Loves the View
This girl, and the thousands of joggers and walkers each day enjoy great views on this 1.58 mile (2.54km) path around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir (formerly the Central Park Reservoir). Designed by Olmstead and Vaux in 1860, the reservoir for 131 years collected water from the Croton Aqueduct, and provided water for Manhattan. Water is now supplied through a large water main.
The twin apartment buildings in the background are The Eldorado, a luxury co-op on Central Park West. Designed in 1930 by prominent architect Emery Roth, the Eldorado (also called The El Dorado), is a designated City Landmark, and one of the most regarded Art Deco buildings in New York City. An apartment recently sold for nearly $3 million, and the penthouse for $7.5 million. Many celebrities have apartments in this and other West Side apartments.
