"Once, we were golden...now we are..."

"...the promise of a future."

 

This is one stalk of a dried field of goldenrod (Solidago sp.), once a brilliant golden meadow of blossoms, now a dry silvery depository of seed. Never fear, if all goes right, the meadow will bloom again late next summer.
