I Shall Go No Further

You might think that this is evidence that I wear him out on our long hikes, and that he simply can't go on. Quite the contrary. This is what happens any time I turn for home. Like clockwork. Every time. As you can imagine, I now tend to look for loop hikes, rather than out-and-backs. :)

Taken along the West Fork of the San Gabriel River. A stunning, green wilderness just behind the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains, minutes from the urban sprawl of Los Angeles. Because the mountains are so steep, this east-west running valley gets very little direct sunlight on hot days, and thus is a lush micro-climate much more like the Pacific Northwest than like Southern California.

As always, thanks very much for all of your kind comments and favorites. They are greatly appreciated!
