Yosemite waters in August
Valley View in August of this very dry year. This time, an HDR take on this spot. Given the sheer walls and the depth of the valley, almost every time of the day means high contrast images, so HDR can be a useful way to bring creativity and balance to a popular image. Went for just a hint of the surreal in an otherwise natural image as seen by the naked eye.
7-shot HDR image made from RAW files taken hand-held with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera and M.Zuiko 12-50mm lens, exposure bracketed at nine frames per second, 12mm focal length (24mm FF equivalent), ISO 200, 1/30-sec, f/14, with a Hoya circular polarizing filter. Merged and tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 4.2.
One of the great things about even the most frequently photographed spots in this natural, national treasure is the sheer amount of variability. As Heraclitus said, one can never step into the same river twice. In Yosemite that really feels to be both figuratively and literally the case.
Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate the time you take to view my photos, and am very grateful for all of your comments and favorites.
