Summer's come early in the High Sierra
What a difference a year makes. Skelton Lake is an alpine lake at about 10,000 feet (just over 3,000 meters) up in the eastern Sierra Nevada. This time last year the lake was still frozen over, and I know other lakes in the area at the same altitude had ice on them into July.
My first landscape upload with my new camera: the Olympus OM-D E-M5. Shot with the M.Zuiko 12-50mm (24-100mm FF equivalent) lens, a great hiking/backcountry package, as both lens and camera are rubustly weathersealed (against rainstorms and dust/sand –– not for swimming & diving, of course). This was hand-held with a Hoya circular polarizing filter, at 12mm, f/7.1, ISO 200, 1/100 sec., jpeg straight out of the camera, inadvertently set to "normal" rather than "fine", as I hadn't yet figured out all the settings and properly set the camera up. I do have RAW files of all my shots from this trip that I'll get into once I have the appropriate software updates that recognize the new camera.
Have I mentioned that I love this camera? ;o)
