Maroon Lake in Autumn

One of the most remarkable places I have ever been on my travels: Maroon Lake, at 9,580 feet of elevation (2920 m), in one of the valleys above Aspen, Colorado. There's typically quite a crowd here for sunset when it's in peak color, but everyone ends up speaking in hushed tones, whispering to one another, overcome by the stillness and majesty of the place.
