South Sister Serenity
The summit of South Sister (10,363 ft – 3,158.5 m), Oregon's third-tallest peak, reflecting in the still waters of Sparks Lake, in the high Cascade Range west of Bend. The mostly tree-covered basalt promontory behind the lava flow at the center-left is called Devil's Hill (7080 ft –2,158 m). The youngest volcanic peak of the the Three Sisters, South Sister's modern structure is no more than 50,000 years old, it last erupted about 2,000 years ago, and it is considered potentially active.
