South Sister Emerges

South Sister, at 10,363 ft (3,158.5 m), the third tallest mountain the state of Oregon, and the tallest of the Three Sisters group, is a glaciated, potentially active stratovolcano that rises up above the city of Bend in the heart of the central Cascade Range. I took this shot from a meadow along the southwest side of the peak, just as the summit had emerged from a blanket of clouds.
