Gifford Pinchot Green

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southwest Washington is home to countless dramatic waterfalls – tumbling over volcanic rocks in the midst of lush green temperate rain forests, well off the beaten path. This is Falls Creek Falls, a big payoff at the uphill end of a nice out-and-back dayhike many miles from "civilization". A three-tiered, 335-foot total drop, it is one of my favorite spots near the Columbia River Gorge, where I grew up. This is a 1/6-second shot, handheld.
