Stormy Skies on the South Fork

The same river as yesterday's post, but a mile or two further upstream, and on a stormy midsummer's day a few years earlier. A two-second exposure made while balanced on a rock in the middle of the river. This area narrowly missed being burnt last year, as the southern edge of the 2017 Empire Fire was stopped just a matter of meters to the north of this, to the left of this photo. As for the 2018 Ferguson Fire, currently burning, the evacuation order for Wawona was lifted yesterday, and it looks like the firefighters have contained the southeastern corner, stopping its spread upriver just downstream from the Wawona Campground. Great work firefighters!

Thanks very much for stopping by, and for all of your continued kind comments and favorites. They are greatly appreciated.
