The Road to the Mountain
Mount Shasta (14,179 ft – 4,322 m) rises up nearly two miles above the surrounding northern California landscape, along US 97 – the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Highway – itself nearly one mile above sea level. Shasta is the second highest peak in the Cascades and the fifth highest in California, and it has an estimated volume of 85 cubic miles (350 km3), which makes it the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc – larger even than Mount Rainier.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful weekend – wherever in the world you might be.
