Yosemite Alpine Lake

The trail towards Granite Lakes runs alongside the shores of Middle Gaylor Lake, with alpine wildflowers spread liberally across the landscape. The creatively named Peak 12,002' (yes, that's how tall it is – 3658 meters), which has been mistaken for White Mountain (the slightly taller peak behind it, not visible from here) enough times to earn the unofficial name "False White Mountain", rises up behind. This spot is just a couple of miles inside the eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park at Tioga Pass, and is reached by a punishingly steep trail, that begins at about 10,000 feet of elevation (3048 meters) and climbs over a thousand feet from there.

Thanks very much for stopping by. I wish you and yours all the best in the new year!
