Sierra Nevada Skelton Blue
Blue skies over the crystal-clear waters of Skelton Lake, at nearly 10,000 feet (3000 meters) up in the high Sierra Nevada. There would normally still be snow up at this altitude, just over the crest from Yosemite National Park, but this was the first year of the several-year-long intensive drought that California has been experiencing ever since, and all the roads, lakes, trails, and passes opened early. This was one of the first shots I took with my Olympus OM-D, almost four years ago now, and I was still learning my way around the camera. But I was very quick to realize the value of having such a small and light bit of gear when hiking up at that altitude.
