Southeast O‘ahu Sunrise
Sunrise along a solitary stretch of coast, to the east of Sandy Beach, along the southeast tip of the Hawaiian island of O‘ahu. A local fisherman had set out a couple of rods, but was nowhere in sight. There was enough vog to add color to the sky even after the sun had risen, but not so much to fully obscure the island of Moloka‘i, just visible along the horizon. The black rocks near the water are lava rock, left over from long ago, when this island was still volcanically active.
Three RAW files taken from a folder deep in my archives – all at ISO 200 and f/3.5 – shot with shutter speeds of 1/4000 sec, 1/1250 sec, and 1/500 sec, merged in Adobe Lightroom CC to match the dynamic range visible to the naked eye. Not tonemapped.
Thanks very much for stopping by, and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
