A White Horse in a Green Forest

Whitehorse Falls, along the appropriately named Clearwater River, in the Cascade Range of southern Oregon. This part of the Umpqua River drainage is one of the most remarkable areas for waterfall hunters in all of the Pacific Northwest. The glacier- and snowmelt-fed waters, filtered through and flowing over beds of volcanic rock, are so clear that they often appear a deep turquoise blue. And the primeval old growth forests, watered by copious amounts of rain, glow with an intense, indescribable green.

Thanks very much for stopping by, and Happy Waterfall Wednesday!
