The Stones of Glendalough

The upper lake in the heart of Ireland's Wicklow Mountains. This glacial valley is known as much for its medieval history as for its landscape, as it was the site of a thriving monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, a hermit priest, which was partly destroyed in 1398 by English troops.
