Minute Over Makapu‘u

Looking north up the windward side of the Hawaiian island of O‘ahu from Makapu‘u Lookout. The beach below is one of the most popular spots for body surfing on the island, and it has a powerful shore break. You can frequently see manta rays swimming along the edge of the rocks in the clear water from all the way up here on the top of the cliff.

Stormy skies over southeast O‘ahu means time to break out the ND filters and go for some long exposures. And the 40-60 mph (65-100 kmph) winds made it just that much more of a simultaneously challenging and rewarding experience. This is a one-minute exposure, using a polarizer and ten-stop ND.

Thanks for stopping by, and for all of the continued kind comments and favorites. They are much appreciated!
