Capitol Vortex

The US Capitol building, reflected in the ice of the frozen solid Capitol Reflecting Pool. This unusual situation brought to you by the extraordinary cold blast that came when the Arctic Vortex dipped way down into the eastern United States earlier this month. Temperatures were in the single digits Fahrenheit for several days, with some places in the US South even dropping down as low as 0º F (-18º C), with wind chills in the -20º F (-29º C) range. The gulls seemed to be just as confused as everyone else.

Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M5

Lens: Olympus M.Zuiko 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3

12mm (24mm full frame FOV), ISO 200, f/7.1, 1/200 sec., Hoya circular polarizer, single RAW file, hand held.

Thank you very much for all of the continued kind comments and favorites. May you stay as warm as possible as this crazy winter progresses. Thanks for stopping by!
