Grésivaudan Blue and Green
Blue skies and green grass on a clear, late winter's day in Le Grésivaudan, the long Alpine valley north of Grenoble. A horse grazes calmly at the edge of a vineyard while a waterfall plunges down the steep slopes of the Dent de Crolles (2,062 m [6,765 ft]), rising majestically more than a mile above our heads. I absolutely love this part of France.
You may recognize this remarkable peak from its recent appearance in the BBC series, "Agatha Christie's Poirot" (Season 13, Episode 4, "The Labours of Hercules") where it provided the exterior shots for the fictitious Swiss Alpine retreat of "Hotel Olympos". The Dent de Crolles is one of the main peaks in the Chartreuse Mountains (the range of the French Prealps between Grenoble and Chambéry), is home to one of the most complex systems of caves in the world, and is considered by many to be the birthplace of modern caving.
Single-shot RAW image, taken with my Olympus OM-D E-M5 and 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 M.Zuiko lens. 32mm (64mm equiv), ISO 200, f/5.5, 1/400 sec., hand-held.
Thanks for stopping by, and for taking the time to look at my work. I hope you enjoy it.
