Majestic Fjord Norway
Typical scene along the Nærøyfjord in the beautiful western part of Norway. I have never seen so many waterfalls, sheer cliffs, and lush greenery all in one place. And I grew up in the Columbia River Gorge. If you go to Norway, you need to go here. It's part of every version of the standard "Norway in a Nutshell" trip that you can find suggested in every guidebook and tourist information office. And with good reason. We were lucky on this trip to get blue skies and some actual sun to set off all of those great Norwegian colors.
The Nærøyfjord is 18 kilometers long (11 miles), is only 500 meters wide in some spots (1,600 feet), and is about 1,280 meters deep (4,200 feet) on both sides throughout its length. Since 2005, the Nærøyfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it (along with the nearby Geirangerfjord) also has been rated by the National Geographic Society as the world's number one natural heritage site.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fantastic weekend, wherever you may be!
