I hail from northwest Calgary’s Banff Trail community where the community association, like many others throughout the city, has a very strong presence within the neighbourhood. The building itself is usually bustling with activity – monthly newsletters, music jam nights, fitness classes, pancake breakfasts, skating parties, and lunch time crib tournaments – only to name a few.
The lively group of crib-playing seniors, who travel in from all over the city once week to play, were instantly welcoming. The majority of them have been attending this event for years, and even after relocating to other communities within the city, this group continue to attend, many of them claiming they look forward to this event all week long.
