Cosmic Cafe
Aside from the dark skies, the other main highlight is the wonderful Cosmic Cafe which is only opened for Okie Tex - that's right - only 7 nights a year. Jodi and her team of wonderful ladies cook up great burgers, hot dogs and chillis. Hot chocolate is self served - you scoop out the powder from this 2 gallon tub and add hot water.
You have to get used to seeing everything in red though - after 9 pm is red lights only - the 'cafe' is a working kitchen with a couple of tables and a serving counter, drenched in red from christmas tree lights strung up all round.
Reminiscent of seedy intergalactic cafes in a Star Wars setting, where cosmic travellers take a break after having traversed the universe without leaving home. :)
