Minecraft rage quit

So I have this powered rail system going on and recently random water spawned and broke 3 of the powered rails which wouldn't be a problem except I only have FIVE gold and it takes six to make more powered rails and the reason I'm holding Diamond is because I found 15+ while looking for gold so at this point I don't know what I can do since there's no sure fire way of finding gold right?
