This Astra was campaigned by a who's who of British rallving - Russell Brookes, Andrew Wood, Malcolm Wilson. David Metcalfe-and one Le Mans winner - Derek Bell. While Bell won the world's greatest endurance race five times, he was destined not to get to the end of the RAC in 1987 in this car, due to mechanical woes, but came back to finish 29' the following year in a sister car.
