good to question
While doing not much at all today i came across an article in the times online with luck the following link will take you to the article.
uk.yahoo.com/news/telling-them-lies-parents-anger-1445464...
Its basically about concerned parents who believe their kids have been brainwashed into becoming trans with the help of the education system, Now while I understand some of the worries some glaringly obvious observations can be made such as this this
"Anne was also shocked by the speed at which her daughter, who had always been a tomboy, had socially transitioned. It was the beginning of lockdown and with home schooling, she was spending all her time online, where she found a community of people who “indoctrinated” her"
This is one of my biggest issues. Why is it a girl can be a Tomboy and totally accepted as such but a boy can't be a janegirl without getting a beating or told its very very wrong!!
Also why is it OK to be a tomboy until said girl realises she should have been a boy at that point all hell brakes lose.
That's the disturbing thing about the quote
" her daughter, who had always been a tomboy"
Is this not blinding obvious that the girl actually sees herself as a boy just like many of us saw ourselves as girls at such a young age!! This parent is blind to her daughters mental state. and has admitted in the statement that her daughter had always been a tomboy hence any suggestion that she was groomed or brainwashed is totally false, All the girl did was discover what was actually wrong with her/him and sought help from people like her/him.
This next part made me laugh because i really don't know where they get this rubbish from or at least in my case it is rubbish.
"Eventually, Anne found a therapist and her daughter was assessed as having Asperger’s.
There is growing evidence of a crossover between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and gender dysphoria.
The largest study to date, by Cambridge University, found that transgender and gender-diverse people were up to six times as likely to have autism than the rest of the population and had “significantly higher” self-reported measures of autistic traits.
The Cass review found that a third of young people referred to gender identity clinics have autism or other types of neurodiversity.
OK for the record I don't have Asperger’s, Autism or any other mental health issue other than the belief from a very young age that i should have been female, I don't hate my body, i was never abused or felt anything other than being happy with who i am. so all those stats above don't work for me and i am sure they don't work for an awful lot of us.
I will say however being trans has become trendy, its the thing to be and a lot of people do go down the transition route who possibly shouldn't Hence why i think it should be easier to self identify without the need for medical intervention at least that way if you discover you made the wrong move you can go back.
As for DE transitioning yeah that happens and will happen more because being trans is trendy and people change minds like the weather, that said the true (Oh i will get killed for saying this) transgendered people won't go back on their choice.
The article is the usual emotive bit of writing that does question what is happening in our world rightly so, Its just a shame that it is more based around the parents disappoint that their children see themselves as the opposite gender than they were born. Unlike being gay you can't hide being trans, its pretty darn obvious when Jane becomes Tom and that has an awful lot of attached social stigma.
