A big metal Sand Hill Crane
I thought I'd seen cranes flying overhead, but this giant landmark in North Dakota proved it. You can tell a Sand Hill Crane by the (almost visible) red cap -- which I know because of "The Echo Maker," the amazing book about identity (and the prairie, and cranes) by Richard Powers.
